Alumni mentor program
To help you engage in career discernment, the economics department runs an alumni mentoring network. Each year, the department connects about 150 students with alumni mentors who share their experiences and offer career advice. Matches are made at the start of the fall semester and are based on career interests. Mentors and mentees typically meet once per semester during an academic year.

Internships
Recent economics and international economics graduates have found employment in a wide variety of industries. At ND Econ, we are dedicated to helping our students reach their career goals. A good place to start is a summer internship. Current Internship Opportunities
Many of our students also find summer internships through the Poverty Research Fellows program, which provide you with the opportunity to work on poverty-related research projects with faculty members at Notre Dame. Past interns have been placed in the economics department, the Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities (LEO), the Building Inclusive Growth (BIG) Lab, the Strengthening Families Research Initiative, and Notre Dame Population Analytics. Internships are available in research, public policy, and nonprofit management.
ND Econ students also frequently participate in the Notre Dame Washington Program. This program provides you with the opportunity to spend the spring or fall semester in Washington DC, taking coursework and interning in government offices, Congress, non-governmental organizations, the media, and cultural institutions. In the past, our students have interned at the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities, the Economic Strategy Institute, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and more.
