Biography
Patrizio Piraino is an Associate Professor of Education, Labor, and Development in the Keough School of Global Affairs. He is the Director of the Ford Program in Human Development Studies and Solidarity at the Kellogg Institute for International Studies. His research focuses on the intersection of education and development, including human capital and labor market policies in developing regions, and the broader determinants of socio-economic disadvantage. While keeping an economics focus, his work overlaps with other disciplines like sociology, anthropology and political science. Some of his papers have been extensively cited according to common citation reports. He previously worked in the School of Economics at the University of Cape Town and at Statistics Canada. He has also been a Visiting Scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and at the University of California-Berkeley. He is an affiliate with the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL).
