Biography
Ethan Lieber is the Gilbert F. Schaefer Associate Professor of Economics and a Research Associate in the health care program at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His research lies broadly in the field of health economics. More specifically, his work focuses on information frictions in health care as well as the intersections of health care with public finance and industrial organization. Most recently he has studied the causes and consequences of the dramatic rise in opioid and drug deaths that began in the 1990s. He earned a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and has been at the University of Notre Dame since then. At Notre Dame, he teaches courses in health economics, econometrics, and the principles of microeconomics.
