Mitchell grew up on the Southern Coast of Lake Erie. He holds a B.S. and M.A. in Economics from Miami University. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program at Notre Dame, he spent a term studying banking and European integration in the Netherlands, ultimately developing research interests in the international financial system, business cycles, and long run growth.
