Requirements and Opportunities

The Economics and International Economics majors each require credits in the following core courses.

Learn how to think and solve problems like an economist

Take four required theory courses:

  • Principles of Microeconomics
  • Intermediate Microeconomics*
  • Principles of Macroeconomics
  • Intermediate Macroeconomics*

*Calculus B or equivalent (Calc 2) are prerequisites.

Learn the art and practice of data analysis

Take two required quantitative analysis courses:

  • Statistics
  • Econometrics

Apply what you learn to many areas

Requirements for electives depend on the major or concentration.

Major in Economics

Take four electives (at least two must be 40000 level, and one must be Writing Intensive (ECWI course attribute).

Major in International Economics

​Take two electives focused on international economic topics (IEEL course attribute).  Complete a Senior Research Project.
