Biography

Kasey Buckles is a Professor of Economics at the University of Notre Dame. She is also a Research Associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research and the IZA Institute for Labor Economics. Buckles earned her B.A. from the University of Kentucky (2000) and her Ph.D. from Boston University (2005). Buckle's research interests include the economics of the family, economic demography, and economic history. Her recent work has focused on the relationship between economic conditions and fertility, and on understanding the U.S.'s fertility decline. She is also collaborating with a team at Brigham Young University to construct new methods for digitizing and linking historical records for use in empirical work. Professor Buckles is currently serving as Associate Chair and Director of Mentoring for the American Economic Association’s Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession, and she is a past recipient of Notre Dame’s Joyce Award for Excellence in undergraduate teaching.
